Having a sister

I was born as the younger sister. My sister was born as the only child. Then I arrived and changed her life.I could look at those two photos forever.

Have a lovely weekend!

Intense Days

This song, the voice, the woman  - I love everything about Katie Melua

The last days and weeks can only be described as intense days with a lot of coincidences.
Plus I've received my 39th follower during my last days as a 39er.

To calm down a bit I listen to Katie. Over and over again. I saw her first in the quite boring TV-show "Fernsehgarten" (weekend morning-programme). I remember when I first saw her on the stage, this tiny woman with this magnificent voice and I thought "Who is she? Where does she come from?" Heavenly. Maybe I reached the age where women love wonderful young women?

See you in June, when I've entered the fifth decade of my life!

Positive Bias

Is it ok to like some people more than others, just beause they come from a region/area/city you love?
I noticed I see people through filters. One of the filter is called country/city of provenance.

Usually prejudices work the other way round, in the negative way. No? Over the last years I've met people from other countries and cities and I have the strong feeling that I  like them for where they come from. Japanese - I love them. People from Paris, Hamburg, Scotland ... I like you all!

I know the love of many women in the US for the cities of Florence and Paris. But people? Do you know "the love for people from certain cities"? Do you feel the same or are you immune against positive bias?

Lately my father has been busy digitizing our photo archives. I love his views. Quite late - he is in his 70's - I am finally recognizing his creative vein. Better late than never.

I was born in NYC. Besides early childhood memories not much is left to connect me with this city. Today I am deeply connected with Vienna. Over the past years I've noticed some positive bias towards Vienna and probably the Viennese, too in the comments. Which means I am not alone with my positive bias. You have to trust me, you are so right to love anyone living in Vienna! :)

More than this

Roxy Music - More Than This von hushhush112

or should I go even further back in time?

I am not kidding when I am saying this is the music I am listening to while jogging. And singing. Maybe I should try it with speeding up a bit. it would probably hinder me from singing.
:)

Paula

More magic ...

I saw this photo for the first time today. My father has been busy digitizing old slides from his archives. The above photo was taken 35 years ago. I had treasured those memories – phantastic costumes and adventures the daughter's-cabin provided – over decades. And today I see thoses memories being as close to reality as they can get. Those days, when we crossed the Atlantic ocean are some of my earliest memories.
Next week my sister will take me on a trip to Hamburg. There is something about Hamburg that always attracted me. Maybe it's the ships and the nearby sea. Maybe it's the "class" I sense when I meet people from Hamburg.

2012 seems to be made for travelling. The envelopes with tickets and railpasses line up on the side board, all in its proper time. I am trained in packing light and will leave the floor space to my sister's trunks.

When times slow down I will happily catch up with you and tell all the stories, about birthday-hikes, the the long way up to the Butt of Lewis that is ahead of us,  my ongoing love for Mr. Ruppitsch's services and the new sensation of me being on time. Not a bad idea, since boarding boards at the airports often don't come with the actual time. Would the portrait of an officially certified superlative chronometer suit this blog? Probably yes, since it suits me quite well!

Looking at the above photo, I am almost certain the man in the back (resting in his deckchair) was not amused. See how excited the girl on the upper deck behaves. Can you see him, the way he turned his head and frowns? Roles seem to stick forever: my sister was pretty cool, lying there, sunbathing, totally relaxé, whilst I preferred to ... well, to what? ... to express my excitement? Maybe!

You will hear from me after the next trip! Hopefully full with excitement and lots capital letters. HAMBURG :-D

The Magic ...

... when four people win the audience's hearts.

Annett Louisan and her musicians, May 17 at the Volkstheater in Vienna.

I am living a busy month of May, cruising between Styria, Vorarlberg and attending (my own) birthday parties.

Have a nice weekend!

PS: to those who wonder: Ruppitsch does not only cut like no other, they also know how to colour hair.
