Not to forget ...

These brushes have been waiting for a proper soap-soak-&-rinse-treatment for a long time.
Clean brushes deserve clean pouches.

Whenever I tell people that I am cleaning the shower curtain that has developed a yellow and stiff seam at the bottom over time, I hear the same answers and questions:
Either "What? You clean it? Why not throw it away and simply buy a new one at IKEA for 3,99?"
Or:
"What? You can clean it? How do you clean it? How do you do it? I always thought you have to throw it away when it gets these stains at the seam)

I start with a soaking bath with Bleach Alternative (by The Laundress. you could as well use real bleach, the curtain does not mind), followed by a gentle wash cycle, using a mild detergent in the washing machine. No tumbling. Hang to dry, iron "cool" if desired et voila, it looks perfect, just as new.
The first step: soaking in Bleach Alterantive

I can not beat 3,99 EUR. But those 3,99 EUR are never the actual cost of a shower curtain. Or, to put it in other words: some one else has to pay the price for this curtain, if not me.

The main reason why I like to take care of my stuff is not so much about saving CO2, but about accomplishing good things with very little effort.

While I was standing in the bathroon, rubbing the stained cosmetic pouches with cheap hair shampoo (nothing removes greasy make up stains as easily as silicone-free hair shampoo) I wondered: How many people in Vienna wash their cosmetic pouches? How many just toss them and buy a new one at H&M? I assume the majority goes and buys a new one.
Brushes, laid out, resting, slowly drying
My special task force, developed over time with a lot of experience.
From left to right: MAC brush cleanser for the soak after shampooing, Bleach Alternative and Stain Solution for the textiles.

This Mister was been a big help so far, getting all these things done. :-)

Looking out the window, I noticed that this day has changed dramaticallywhile I was busy.
Snow swirling like needles through the air

Have a nice weekend!
Paula

PS: The moon is beyond all question.

  2. When I still had shower curtains, I'd spritz some bathroom cleaning product on and just rinse them with hot water. Every few months I'd spritz the product, let it soak and then wash the curtains in the washing machine. I swear by Ecover label. And yes, most people don't realize that buying cheap alternatives doesn't solve anything, but I've long since given up on explaining how I love to take good care of all my things and have them last longer. Most people already think I'm weird ;-)
